Port Townsend Little League is a non-profit youth baseball and softball
league offering a fun, supportive, instructional and competitive
experience for boys and girls ages 4 through 14 residing in Port Townsend, or attending Port Townsend Schools. Programs focus on the
development of baseball and softball skills, sportsmanship, and a love
for the game in a family-oriented, all-volunteer community.
PTLL offers the
following programs and divisions of play:
* TEE BALL: New or inexperienced players (ages 4-7)
* BASEBALL (Co-ed): Minor Prep (machine-pitch, ages 5-11), Minors
(player-pitch, ages 7-11), Majors (ages 9-12) and - subject to demand -
50/70s (ages 11-13), and Juniors (ages 12-14)
* GIRLS SOFTBALL: Minors (girls ages 7-12), Majors (girls ages 9-12), and Juniors (ages 12-14)
Port
Townsend Little League is chartered by Little League International and
is
a member of Washington's District 2. It is managed by an
annually-elected, all-volunteer Board of Directors that operates in
accordance with the rules, regulations, and policies of Little League
International. Our league is funded by registration fees, sponsor
donations and other fundraising activities and events - and is operated
solely through volunteer efforts
of its General Membership.
Our 2018 season will run from approximately March through late-May or
early-June. There will be a required Skills Assessment on March 3rd OR
4th (see home page for details); practices in March; an Opening Day
Jamboree (ceremony and game) on March 31st and games in April, May and
possibly into early June. Qualifying teams may also play additional
tournament games later in the season.
To begin registration, select the
program and division that you think most suits your child's age and
skill level. Final division selections will be made by our volunteer
Player Agent(s) and Board of Directors (as needed). So, if you're not
quite sure which division to sign up for, just take your best guess to
get started!
IMPORTANT NOTE: PTLL has reduced our base
registration fee this year to make registration more accessible
overall. For many reasons, we have also added a "non-volunteer fee"
this year to encourage parents to contribute to the program with their
time, not just their dollars! During the registration process, you'll
be given the opportunity to select a volunteer role to learn more about
(including the option to "assign me where I'm needed".) If you know
that you don't have time or inclination to volunteer, you can select
that option and choose to pay the $25 non-volunteer fee instead. Thank
you for your participation!
The Port Townsend Little League MISSION:
Through proper guidance and exemplary leadership, the Port Townsend
Little League program assists youth in developing the qualities of
citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. By espousing
the virtues of character, courage and loyalty, the Little League T-Ball,
Baseball and Softball program is designed to develop superior citizens
as well as proficient athletes.
The Port Townsend Little League Community is composed of all those who
participate in and support the Little League Mission in Port Townsend.
It consists of the players, managers,
coaches, league officials and volunteers, parents, grandparents,
siblings and cousins, friends and last but certainly not least, the
sponsors and advertisers without whose financial support the league
could not function.
Our annual SKILLS ASSESSMENTS are coming up THIS WEEKEND!
Please plan to attend ONE of two
upcoming REQUIRED Skills Assessment dates: March 3rd OR 4th, 10:00 a.m.
to 12:00 p.m.. Onsite registration will also be available at that
time.
Skills Assessments will be held at the Port Townsend Little
League fields, located at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. Find
directions with our "Field Locations" link in the lower left corner of
this website (or under "About Us" in the top bar.) Skills Assessment
is REQUIRED in order to complete registration.
If you are absolutely
unable to attend one of these dates, please email playeragent@ptll.org
to discuss alternatives.
The annual Skills Assessment is intended to help coaches build balanced
teams, allowing all kids to play and learn baseball, teeball and
softball skills to their maximum potential. And if your player is
eligible (by age) for more than one level of play,
and you're trying to decide which level to register them for - the
skills assessment will help our volunteer Player Agents select the
appropriate placement for your player.
We also use these dates as an opportunity to register your players
in-person, and/or to bring and submit the required proof-of-residency
forms, adult volunteer forms and any registration fee payments that you
did not submit via the online registration system. PTLL volunteers will
be available at the Concessions stand to help answer your registration
and volunteer sign-up questions.
See you at the ball fields this weekend!
And SAVE THE DATE for our OPENING DAY JAMBOREE on March 31st, 10:00 a.m. at the Port Townsend Little League Fields.
